A Love Affair With Burl
Since late last year, I’ve noticed more and more burl gracing the shelves of interiors stores. For those that aren’t clued up on a wood (I wasn’t until a couple of hours ago), a burl is a deformity or unusual growth that appears on certain species of trees, including walnut, maple and oak. The resulting wood has a unique and distinctive grain pattern. And it’s absolutely beautiful. Having recently visited our wedding venue (Kin House) and seen their stunning burl bedside tables, I’m desperate to purchase some pieces to add to our home, once the renovation work - and non-stop dust - has come to an end.
